Indian Team's Struggles in Batting Rankings

The Indian cricket team is set to kick off the new World Test Championship cycle with a five-match Test series against England. However, the current state of Indian batsmen in the rankings is concerning, with only two players making it to the top 20. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant are the only representatives in the top 10, while no other Indian batsman is featured in the top 20. Shubman Gill is positioned within the top 30, but both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have fallen outside the top 40.

England's Joe Root leads the rankings with an impressive 888 rating points. Yashasvi Jaiswal follows closely in fourth place with 847 points, while Rishabh Pant holds the tenth spot with 739 points. Newly appointed captain Shubman Gill is currently ranked 24th with 631 rating points. Ravindra Jadeja is in 46th place with 538 points, and KL Rahul is just behind him at 47th with 533 points. Shreyas Iyer, who is currently out of the team, is ranked 64th with 465 points, while Axar Patel is 65th with 464 points. Nitish Kumar Reddy rounds out the list at 67th with 459 points.
