India's Strong Stance Against Terrorism: Rajnath Singh's Address
India's New Policy on Terrorism
During a speech at Badami Bagh Cantt in Srinagar on May 15, 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed India's approach to terrorism. He stated that any act of aggression on Indian territory will now be treated as a declaration of war. Singh reiterated India's commitment to peace but emphasized the necessity of a strong response when sovereignty is threatened. He warned that Pakistan would face severe repercussions if it continues to harbor terrorists.
Operation Sindoor: A Historic Move
Rajnath Singh referred to Operation Sindoor as the most significant counter-terrorism operation in India's history, showcasing the nation's determination to eradicate terrorism. He expressed that this operation was not merely a defensive measure but a bold initiative to confront threats head-on. Singh noted that the operation fulfilled a long-held aspiration of soldiers to target and neutralize terrorist hideouts, emphasizing that the forces acted in response to the heinous acts committed against Indians.
A Message to Terrorist Organizations
The Defence Minister asserted that Operation Sindoor has conveyed a clear warning to terrorist groups in Pakistan and their supporters that they are not safe. He praised the precision of Indian forces, stating that their focus is unwavering and that the responsibility for counting casualties lies with the adversaries.
Concerns Over Pakistan's Nuclear Threats
Rajnath Singh expressed India's steadfastness against terrorism, undeterred by Pakistan's nuclear threats. He raised concerns about the safety of nuclear weapons in the hands of what he termed an irresponsible nation, suggesting that international oversight from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is necessary for Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.
Unity in the Face of Terrorism
He reflected on the Pahalgam incident, which aimed to disrupt India's social harmony, and praised the Armed Forces for their decisive response. Singh recalled a promise made by Pakistan over two decades ago to cease exporting terrorism, accusing the nation of deceit and urging it to stop providing refuge to anti-India elements.
