India's Stance on Arunachal Pradesh Amidst Chinese Claims
For decades, China has eyed Arunachal Pradesh, but the new India confronts the dragon with confidence. In response to China's provocations, such as issuing new maps and renaming places to assert its claims, the patriotic citizens of Arunachal Pradesh have stood firm. Following China's recent name changes for certain locations, the people of the state took to the streets waving the national flag, sending a clear message that any aggression will not be tolerated. China asserts that Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet, yet it remains an undeniable fact that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inseparable part of India.
India's Preparations Against Potential Chinese Aggression
India is acutely aware that China could act recklessly at any moment, prompting the nation to bolster its defenses. Recently, a decision was made to relocate 56 border outposts of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) closer to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Out of these, 33 outposts have already been moved nearer to the border. Additionally, the Modi government has approved the establishment of seven new battalions for border security, with six deployed along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh and one stationed in Sikkim.
Government Initiatives to Strengthen Border Areas
In light of the continuous visits by government representatives to border areas, China seems uncertain about its next steps. This week, the Arunachal Pradesh government took a significant initiative by organizing a 'Cabinet at Your Doorstep' meeting in Kibithu, located just 5 kilometers from the LAC, approving projects worth ₹100 crores. This area is one of India's easternmost inhabited locations. Earlier in 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Kibithu, sending a strong message to China that any attempt to encroach on even a needle's worth of land would not be tolerated.
Promoting Tourism and Economic Growth in Border Regions
The central government is encouraging tourists to visit border areas to benefit local communities economically and to raise awareness about their culture. Kibithu also has a rich military history, having witnessed fierce battles during the 1962 Chinese invasion, where Indian soldiers bravely defended the territory against the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
Infrastructure Development Initiatives
The Modi administration is also implementing the 'Vibrant Villages Program' with significant central funding to enhance road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh. Furthermore, the central government is supporting state-run micro-hydropower projects under the 'Golden Jubilee Border Illumination Program,' empowering residents in border villages. An example of the government's commitment to improving border infrastructure was seen during Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Arunachal, where he inaugurated a strategically important bridge over the Siom River, facilitating troop deployment in remote areas.
China's Claims and India's Sovereignty
Ultimately, regarding the maps and renaming efforts by China, it must be understood that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and unbreakable part of India, and such fabricated names will not alter this reality.
