India's Military Action Against Terrorism

New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Indian government confirmed its decision to take decisive action in response to the recent Pahalgam attack, emphasizing its commitment to prevent further cross-border terrorism. The focus remains on dismantling terrorist networks and neutralizing threats.

This announcement was made during a press conference featuring Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, following missile strikes targeting terrorist positions in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Key targets included the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba base in Muridke.

These military operations, part of Operation Sindoor, were executed two weeks after the tragic attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.

Misri characterized the military actions as calculated, non-escalatory, and proportionate, aimed at addressing the ongoing threat of terrorism.

He referenced a statement from the United Nations Security Council regarding the Pahalgam incident, which highlighted the necessity of holding accountable those responsible for such acts of terrorism.

The Foreign Secretary stressed the importance of bringing the planners of the April 22 attack to justice, noting that despite the time elapsed, Pakistan has not taken significant steps to address the terrorist infrastructure within its borders.

Instead, Pakistan has resorted to denial and accusations, Misri pointed out, adding that intelligence reports indicated imminent threats from Pakistan-based terror groups, necessitating preemptive action.

Earlier today, India reaffirmed its right to respond to and deter further cross-border attacks, emphasizing that these actions were responsible and focused on neutralizing potential threats.
