Sahdev Yadav, India's Chef de Mission for the Asian Games 2026, announced that all logistical challenges related to accommodation, transportation, and food have been successfully addressed. He expressed optimism that Indian athletes will significantly enhance the medal tally in the upcoming events.

In a recent statement, Sahdev emphasized that the initial success is merely the start, with expectations high for the weightlifting team. He stated, "It feels great. This is just the beginning, and we anticipate a stream of medals. All arrangements, including hotels, transport, and food, are now in place without any issues."

India had a remarkable day at the Asian Games 2026, earning medals in shooting and mixed martial arts, while also seeing athletes advance to finals in swimming and achieve victories in boxing, soft tennis, and table tennis.
Shooting Highlights
In the shooting events, Himanshu secured a silver medal, while Rudrankksh took home bronze in the men's 10m air rifle individual final. Both athletes qualified for the final by finishing third and seventh, respectively, with Parth Mane placing 11th. The trio also earned a silver medal in the team event.
Mixed Martial Arts Results
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal claimed a bronze medal after her semifinal loss to Singapore's Teo Hui Hoon in the women's traditional 60kg category.
Boxing Achievements
In boxing, Sumit triumphed over Thailand's Bunjong Sinsiri in the men's 70kg Round of 32, allowing him to progress further in the tournament.
Soft Tennis Matches
In soft tennis, Aadhya Tiwari and Jay Meena achieved victories against Cambodia and Mongolia in their mixed doubles Group B matches. However, they faced defeats against South Korea's Kim Yeon-hwa and Jaekyu Park, as well as the Philippines' Christy Sanosa and Sherwin Nuguit in the round of 16.

In swimming, Srihari Nataraj advanced to the men's 50m backstroke final, with Rishabh Das as a reserve. Mani Akash and Gitesh Shah did not qualify for the men's 50m freestyle final, while Dhanush Suresh missed out on the men's 100m breaststroke final.

In wushu, Nyeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women's Changquan final. The Indian table tennis team achieved a 3-0 victory over Pakistan in the women's team Group F match.
