India's Support for Afghan Health Initiatives


Kabul/New Delhi: Demonstrating its unwavering support for the Afghan populace, India has recently dispatched 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul.


The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on X, stating, "Reaffirming its commitment to support Afghanistan’s public health, India delivers 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul."





On November 28, India also sent 73 tonnes of essential medicines, vaccines, and supplements to Afghanistan to address urgent healthcare needs.


"To enhance Afghanistan’s healthcare capabilities, India has delivered 73 tonnes of life-saving medicines, vaccines, and essential supplements to Kabul," Jaiswal shared on X.


Earlier, on November 20, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Afghanistan's Industry and Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi. They discussed enhancing trade, connectivity, and cultural ties between the two nations. During this meeting, Jaishankar reaffirmed India's commitment to the development and welfare of the Afghan people.


"It was a pleasure to meet with Industry and Commerce Minister of Afghanistan, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi this evening. We discussed ways to strengthen our trade, connectivity, and people-to-people ties. I reiterated India’s support for the development and welfare of the Afghan people," Jaishankar posted on X.


On November 3, India provided food supplies to families impacted by the earthquake in the Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces.


The MEA stated on X, "Reaffirming its support to the Afghan people, India delivers food items for the families affected by the earthquake."


This assistance followed a devastating earthquake of magnitude 6.3 that resulted in over 20 fatalities and numerous injuries in northern Afghanistan.


After their discussions, EAM Jaishankar posted on X, "I spoke with FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan this afternoon to express condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake that struck Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces. Indian relief materials for the earthquake-affected communities are being delivered today, with further medical supplies to follow soon."


He also noted the progress in bilateral relations since the Afghan minister's visit and welcomed the growing people-to-people interactions between India and Afghanistan, appreciating the exchange of views on regional issues.
