India's Men's TT Campaign Concludes at Asian Games

On Tuesday, India's men's table tennis team faced a disappointing exit from the Asian Games 2026, suffering a 0-3 defeat against South Korea in the Round of 16.


The team fell behind early as Harmeet Desai and Manush Shah lost their singles matches. Harmeet was defeated by Jang Woojin in four games, with scores of 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, and 9-11. Manush Shah put up a tough fight against world-ranked 23 Oh Junsung but ultimately lost 2-3 in a nail-biting match. Manush initially led 2-1 after winning the third game 13-11 and even held a 4-1 advantage in the final game. However, Oh Junsung rallied back to clinch the match with scores of 11-13, 6-11 after Manush had won the first two games 4-11, 11-8, and 13-11.


With India needing a victory to keep their hopes alive, Manav Thakkar took on An Jaehyun in the third singles match. Manav managed to keep the team in contention by winning the third game 11-7 after losing the first two games 10-12 and 6-11. However, An Jaehyun secured the match in the fourth game, winning 12-10, which resulted in a 3-0 victory for South Korea and concluded India's men's team campaign.

India's performance at the Asian Games on Tuesday was mixed. The women's table tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals after a narrow 3-2 victory over Thailand, while the women's badminton team was eliminated after losing 3-1 to Japan in the quarterfinals.
