India's Stellar Performance in the 2026 Women’s Junior Asia Cup

The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team showcased an extraordinary performance, defeating Pakistan 19-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Junior Asia Cup held in Moqi, China, on Thursday.

From the start, India asserted their dominance, netting five goals in the first quarter, followed by five more in the second, three in the third, and six in the final quarter, securing their spot in the semi-finals, as reported by Hockey India.

First Half: A Display of Offensive Power

India kicked off the match with aggressive intent, earning two penalty corners within the first five minutes, though they failed to convert these chances. Their persistence paid off in the sixth minute, but an initial goal was disallowed after a referral.

Shortly after, India was awarded another penalty corner, which Puja Sahoo successfully converted in the seventh minute, giving India a 1-0 lead.

Roshni Aind quickly followed up with a field goal in the ninth minute, and Tanushree Dinesh Kadu added another through a deflection in the 11th minute, extending the lead to 3-0.

A foul by Pakistan inside the circle led to a penalty stroke, which Sukhveer Kaur converted in the 13th minute, making it 4-0. Sanika Chandrakant Mane then scored a field goal, concluding the first quarter at 5-0.

Second Quarter: Continued Domination

India maintained their momentum into the second quarter, with Madhu Sidar scoring a field goal in the 16th minute, followed by Geeta Yadav two minutes later, pushing the score to 7-0.

Sanika Mane scored again in the 23rd minute, completing her brace, and Tanuja Toppo added another goal in the 25th minute, bringing the score to 9-0.

India converted another penalty corner in the 27th minute, with Pooja Malik scoring to make it 10-0, heading into halftime with a commanding lead.

Second Half: Unstoppable Force

After the break, India showed no signs of slowing down. Just three minutes into the third quarter, Purnima Yadav scored from a penalty corner deflection, making it 11-0.

Madhu Sidar scored again in the 39th minute, extending the lead to 12-0, followed by Supriya's goal in the 40th minute, bringing the tally to 13-0.

Despite creating more opportunities, India could not convert their next two penalty corners before the end of the quarter.

Final Quarter: A Flourish of Goals

Entering the last quarter with a 13-0 lead, India continued their offensive strategy, scoring six more goals.

Krishna Sharma opened the scoring in the 48th minute, followed by Pooja Malik, who netted two more goals, completing her hat-trick and raising the score to 16-0.

Supriya scored again from a penalty corner in the 54th minute, and Binima Dhan added another field goal in the 55th minute, making it 18-0. Roshni Aind capped off the scoring with her second goal in the 60th minute, finalizing the score at 19-0.

Statistics Highlighting India's Dominance

The match statistics reflected India's overwhelming control, with 19 goals scored, 18 penalty corners earned, and one penalty stroke, while Pakistan failed to register any goals or penalty corners.

With this resounding victory, India has advanced to the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Junior Asia Cup, where they will face the winner of the Korea vs. Malaysia quarter-final on September 12.
