India's journey began with a commanding 13-1 win over Indonesia, followed by a staggering 16-1 victory against Sri Lanka. Upcoming matches against Japan on September 26 and Bangladesh on September 28 will be crucial as the defending champions aim for a flawless group stage performance, which would secure them a direct qualification for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

The scoring kicked off in the fourth minute when Shailanand Lakra capitalized on a blocked pass from Abhishek, putting India ahead. Dilpreet Singh soon added to the tally with a powerful shot that found its way past the South Korean goalkeeper, making it 2-0 by the ninth minute due to defensive errors from the opponents. Dilpreet completed his hat-trick in the 32nd minute with a swift tomahawk shot following a pass from Rajinder. Despite several penalty corners, it was Abhishek who scored the seventh goal after a well-coordinated team effort.
