India's Defense Minister Calls for International Oversight of Pakistan's Nuclear Weapons

Rajnath Singh Urges IAEA to Take Control of Pakistan's Nuclear Arsenal
On Thursday, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh appealed to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to assume responsibility for Pakistan's nuclear weapons. This request comes shortly after both nations, armed with nuclear capabilities, concluded one of their most severe military confrontations in nearly thirty years. Singh questioned the safety of nuclear weapons in the hands of what he termed a 'reckless and malevolent' nation, asserting that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal should be monitored by the IAEA.
Singh emphasized India's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, highlighting that the nation has remained unfazed by Pakistan's nuclear threats. He pointed out that the world has witnessed numerous instances of Pakistan issuing nuclear blackmail against India. From Srinagar, he posed a critical question to the global community: can nuclear weapons be deemed secure in the hands of such an irresponsible state? He reiterated his belief that the IAEA should oversee Pakistan's nuclear capabilities.
The Defense Minister praised the dedication of the armed forces in protecting the homeland, noting their relentless efforts day and night. He expressed admiration for their commitment, which serves as an inspiration to all Indians. Singh recounted a recent incident in Pahalgam where terrorists targeted innocent civilians based on their religion, and he commended the forces for their decisive response. He stated, 'While terrorists killed innocents based on religion, we retaliated based on their actions.' He underscored that the loss of innocent lives was a consequence of Pakistan's actions, while India's response was guided by a sense of justice.
