It is heartening to observe the unity of the Indian populace in their commitment to strengthening our nation! #11YearsOfRakshaShakti".
This announcement is part of a larger national initiative showcasing the evolution of India's defence capabilities since 2014, which marks the start of PM Modi’s initial term.
India has transitioned from a state of heavy reliance on imports to becoming a significant arms exporter, showcasing a fundamental change in its defence landscape.
Officials from the Ministry of Defence echoed the Prime Minister's views, commending the country's shift towards indigenization and innovation.
A post from the Ministry of Defence on X elaborated on this evolution, stating: "In the last 11 years, under PM @narendramodi's visionary guidance, India’s defence sector has evolved from being import-dependent to a global exporter, driven by #AatmanirbharBharat & #MakeInIndia. Indigenous innovations such as the #brahmosmissile and advanced submarines have strengthened our security and international stature. Defence exports now reach over 100 countries, marking a historic increase in #selfreliance. As we commemorate #11YearsOfRakshaShakti, we honor the progress towards a safer, stronger India."
Significant achievements during this period include record growth in defence exports, exceeding Rs 21,000 crore in recent years, the successful deployment of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, the commissioning of indigenous aircraft carriers like INS Vikrant, and the development of homegrown fighter jets such as the HAL Tejas.
The celebration of '11 Years of Raksha Shakti' highlights the government's commitment to reducing reliance on foreign suppliers and fostering indigenous defence production through flagship initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
