India's Ambassador Engages US Senators in Key Bilateral Discussions
Bilateral Talks at India House
On December 2, in Washington, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India's Ambassador to the United States, welcomed a bipartisan assembly of US Senators for discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship. The talks spanned critical sectors including energy, defense, and trade.
The Senators present included Republicans Lindsey Graham, Dan Sullivan, and Markwayne Mullin, alongside Democrats Peter Welch, Richard Blumenthal, and Sheldon Whitehouse, all gathered at India House.
"It was an honor to host Senators Lindsey Graham, Richard Blumenthal, Sheldon Whitehouse, Peter Welch, Dan Sullivan, and Markwayne Mullin at India House this evening. We had productive discussions on the India-US partnership, covering energy, defense cooperation, trade, and significant global issues. I appreciate their commitment to enhancing the India-US relationship," Kwatra shared on X.
Additionally, the Ambassador met with General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, to discuss defense collaboration and regional matters of mutual concern.
"I had a constructive meeting with General Dan Caine, where we discussed our defense cooperation and regional issues that are important to both nations," Kwatra noted on X.
Earlier last week, Kwatra engaged in an extensive dialogue regarding the economic partnership with Jacob Helberg, the 22nd US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs.
On X, the Ambassador expressed, "I congratulated Jacob Helberg on his new role and we discussed our economic engagement agenda, focusing on a mutually beneficial trade agreement, strategic trade dialogue, and technology collaboration, including AI."
On November 24, he also met with US Representative Jay Obernolte, emphasizing the potential for collaboration in science, technology, innovation, and AI.
"I enjoyed my discussion with Rep. Jay Obernolte, Chair of the House Science, Space, and Technology Research and Technology Subcommittee, where we explored opportunities for enhanced US-India cooperation in science, technology, AI, and innovation," Kwatra posted on X.
