Successful Flight Test of Agni Missile


New Delhi/Balasore: India has successfully executed a flight test of its advanced Agni missile, which incorporates a Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) system, off the coast of Odisha.


The MIRV capability allows a single missile to release several warheads, each aimed at distinct targets.


According to the defense ministry, this missile system was tested on Friday.


The ministry stated, "India conducted the successful flight trial of an advanced Agni missile equipped with the MIRV system from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha on May 8."


During the test, the missile was launched with multiple payloads, each directed towards various targets spread across a vast area in the Indian Ocean Region.
