Historic Victory for Indian Athletes

Indian athletes Vithya Ramraj and Prachi Choudhary expressed their joy after clinching the gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026. This victory marked India's first athletics gold medal at the event, achieved during the final held on Tuesday.

The Indian team, consisting of Kiran, Machettira Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary, and Vithya Ramraj, finished with a time of 3:29.69, securing the top position. Bahrain followed closely, taking the silver with a time of 3:30.21, while China earned the bronze medal with a time of 3:31.02.

Vithya Ramraj Celebrates Team Achievement

Vithya Ramraj, who previously won a bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles, added to her medal tally with this gold in the relay. She expressed her happiness, stating, "Winning this medal feels incredibly special, especially as part of a team. This gold is my third medal at the Asian Games, and I am grateful for the support from everyone, particularly JSW, who have been instrumental in my journey."

Prachi Choudhary Reflects on Her Success

Prachi Choudhary, who also secured her second medal at the Asian Games after winning bronze in the women's 400m, shared her excitement about the relay victory. She remarked, "I am overjoyed. Winning two medals at the Asian Games is still sinking in. The bronze was significant, and winning gold with my teammates makes this experience even more unforgettable. I am thrilled that we could achieve this for our country."

India's Remarkable Day at the Games

The women's 4x400m relay victory was India's second gold medal of the day. Earlier, Neeru Dhanda made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual medal in the women's trap event, also securing gold.
