India Secures Quarterfinal Spot

The Indian women's table tennis team has successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Asian Games by defeating their long-time rivals, Pakistan, in their second Group F match on Monday.

Following a challenging start to their campaign with a narrow 3-2 victory over Singapore on Sunday, the team showcased their strength with a decisive win against Pakistan.

Dominant Display Against Pakistan

The match began with Suthirtha Mukherjee facing Aleena Khan, where she delivered a strong performance, winning 3-0 with scores of 11-3, 11-3, and 11-4, giving India an early advantage.

In a strategic move, the team tested their bench strength by including Suthirtha and Syndrela Das, who replaced key players Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade.

Syndrela then took on Kalsoom Khan in the second match, securing another 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-7, 11-5) and extending India's lead to 2-0.

The final match featured Sreeja Akula against Fatima Khan, where Sreeja completed the sweep with a 3-0 win (11-4, 11-4, 11-5), sealing the tie for India.

Comeback Victory Over Singapore

India's journey in the Asian Games 2026 commenced with an impressive comeback against Singapore in their Group F opener on Sunday.

At one point, India was down 1-2 and faced the possibility of defeat. However, Sreeja Akula and Yashaswini Ghorpade rallied to win the last two crucial matches, securing the tie for India.
