Celebrating the Silver Medal Achievement

On Tuesday, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed his congratulations to the Indian women's shooting team, comprising Manisha Keer, Neeru, and Aashima Ahlawat, for their impressive silver medal win in the trap team event at the Asian Games 2026. Mandaviya particularly acknowledged the achievements of debutants Neeru and Aashima in a post shared on X.

Details of the Silver Medal Win

The Indian women's shooting team, featuring Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Keer, secured the silver medal in the women's trap team event at the Asian Games 2026 held in Japan. The team achieved a total score of 328 points, finishing three points ahead of Kuwait, who took home the bronze with 325 points. China emerged victorious, winning the gold medal with a score of 346 points.

Neeru delivered an outstanding individual performance, scoring 118 out of 125, which significantly contributed to the team's success. Aashima and Manisha added scores of 106 and 104, respectively, out of a possible 125. Neeru also tied for the top position in the individual qualifying round alongside Qatar's Ray Bassil and is set to compete in the individual final later on Tuesday.

This silver medal marks a significant achievement for India in the women's trap team event at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan.

Other Indian Results at the Games

In other events, India's Shapath Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai, and Ahvar Rizvi finished sixth in the men's trap team final, with Shapath advancing to the individual final. In archery, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan progressed to the men's recurve individual quarterfinals after winning their Round of 16 matches.

In canoe slalom, Hitesh Kewat and Pradhyumna Singh Rathod, along with Pallavi Jagtap and Rina Sen, moved on to the semi-finals. In cycling, India placed seventh in the men's team sprint and sixth in the women's team sprint, while the women's team pursuit squad finished fifth. In kurash, Vipin Kumar was eliminated in the men's 66kg Round of 16, whereas the Indian women's squash team triumphed over Iran with a 3-0 victory to reach the quarterfinals. In surfing, Kishore Kumar Anbarasu was knocked out in the men's shortboard quarterfinal.
