The Indian women's cricket team, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing its first gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. The team triumphed over Sri Lanka with a commanding victory of 147 runs during the final match held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on September 22.


India set a formidable target, scoring 216 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Sri Lanka was bowled out for a mere 69 runs in just 15.4 overs. The Indian bowlers showcased exceptional skill, with Deepti Sharma taking 3 wickets for just 6 runs, while Shafali Verma, Shreyanka Patil, and Shree Charani contributed with 2 wickets each, effectively dismantling the Sri Lankan batting order.
