Outstanding Performance by Indian Women Wrestlers


Vung Tau (Vietnam), June 21: The Indian women's Under-23 wrestling team has made the nation proud by delivering an exceptional performance at the ongoing U-23 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Vung Tau, securing a total of 10 medals.


In a stunning exhibition of talent and perseverance, the team claimed the Champion Trophy, achieving medals across all 10 weight categories, which included four gold, five silver, and one bronze.


Gold medals were won by Priyanshi Prajapat in the 50 Kg class, Reena in the 55 Kg category, Shrishti in the 68 Kg, and Priya in the 76 Kg weight class.


The silver medals were awarded to Neha Sharma in the 57 Kg, Pragati in the 62 Kg, Siksha in the 65 Kg, Tanvi in the 59 Kg, and Jyoti Berwal in the 72 Kg.


Hinaben Khalifa earned a bronze medal in the 53 Kg category.


In the Greco-Roman Wrestling events, Sumit achieved a gold medal in the 63 Kg category, while Nitesh and Ankit Gulia secured bronze medals in the 97 Kg and 72 Kg categories, respectively.


The Men's Freestyle competitions are currently ongoing, with Vicky already having won a gold medal in the 97 Kg Freestyle category, contributing to India's impressive medal tally.


More medals are anticipated as the remaining matches are set to take place on Saturday.
