Preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games
The 2026 Games were conducted in a compact format, resulting in the exclusion of several traditional Indian medal-winning sports such as shooting, wrestling, and badminton. India finished fourth in the overall medal tally with 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze.
India's journey towards hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games officially commenced with the ceremonial handover of the Commonwealth Games Flag during the Closing Ceremony in Glasgow. This event not only marked the return of the Games to India after the 2010 edition in New Delhi but also the first time Gujarat will host.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is committed to enhancing infrastructure and reinstating traditional sports to ensure a successful medal tally at the upcoming Games.
