Indian Weightlifters Honored in Lok Sabha for Commonwealth Games Achievements
Recognition for Indian Athletes in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, July 27 - Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who secured a gold medal at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, along with other medal-winning athletes, received accolades in the Lok Sabha on Monday. As the session commenced, Speaker Om Birla highlighted the remarkable achievements of Chanu and her fellow competitors at the Commonwealth Games.
He stated, “Mirabai Chanu has won the gold medal in the 48 kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland.”
Birla also acknowledged the accomplishments of Rishikant Singh Chanuambam and Raja Muthupandi, who earned silver medals in weightlifting, as well as bronze medalist para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar.
He extended his congratulations and best wishes to all the victorious athletes, their coaches, and Team India.
