Men's Singles: Abhay and Veer Progress to Quarterfinals

Indian squash athletes Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani have successfully reached the quarterfinals in the men's singles event at the Asian Games taking place in Aichi-Nagoya. Abhay triumphed over Sri Lanka's Ravindu Laksiri with a decisive score of 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-6), completing the match in just 21 minutes. His next opponent will be Japan's Ryunosuke Tsukue.


Meanwhile, Veer faced a challenge in his match against Malaysia's Sanjay Jeeva. After trailing in the second game, he managed to equalize at 7-7 and ultimately won that game 11-9. Although Sanjay took the second game 11-8, Veer secured victory in the deciding game with a score of 11-6, finishing with a 2-1 win.


Women's Singles: Anahat and Tanvi Set Up All-Indian Quarterfinal

In the women's singles category, Anahat Singh has advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Singapore's Au Yeong Wai Iynn. The third seed showcased her skills by winning 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-7).


Tanvi Khanna also made her mark by overcoming Au Yeong Wai Yhann with a score of 3-1 (5-11, 11-4, 11-5, 13-11), setting up an all-Indian quarterfinal clash with Anahat. Notably, the squash event will see its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.


Mixed Doubles: Joshna and Velavan Triumph in All-India Match

The mixed doubles team of Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar has advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating fellow Indians Suraj Chand and Shameena Riaz. The experienced duo won the match 2-0, with scores of 11-7 and 11-10.


The first game was straightforward for Joshna and Velavan, but the second game proved to be more competitive. Suraj and Shameena rallied from a 7-9 deficit to tie the game at 9-9, but ultimately, the seasoned players' experience shone through.
