Indian Shooters Fall Short in ISSF World Cup Events
Men's 10m Air Pistol: Indians Fail to Reach Finals
In the Men's 10m Air Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol held at the Las Gabias shooting range, Indian shooters were unable to secure a spot in the finals. Mukesh Nelavalli, who previously clinched gold in the 10m mixed team event, was the top performer among the Indian contingent, finishing in 14th place.
Competing in a field of 86 shooters, Mukesh recorded a score of 579-21x (94, 98, 98, 97, 95), falling short of the final qualification score of 581-20x achieved by Anton Aristarkhov. The highest score in the qualification round was posted by China's Xie Yu, who scored 588-18x.
Aakash Bharadwaj delivered the best performance among the Indian shooters with a score of 580-26x, placing him 10th overall, although he was only vying for ranking points. Ujjawal Malik finished 22nd with a score of 577-17x, while Parmod Kumar ended in 39th place with 574-16x. Varun Tomar, also competing for ranking points, scored 569-13x, landing in 63rd position.
Women's 25m Pistol: Strong Start for Rhythm and Divya
In the Women's 25m Pistol event, Rhythm Sangwan and Divya TS made a promising start during the precision stage, both securing spots in the top eight. Rhythm concluded the day with a score of 292-9x, achieving scores of 99, 96, and 97 across three series, while Divya followed closely with a score of 291-8x, recording 96, 98, and 97.
Simranpreet Kaur Brar struggled, finishing with a score of 282-5x (93, 94, 95). Competing for ranking points, Abhidnya Ashok Patel and Chinki Yadav scored 286-8x and 277-7x, respectively.
Upcoming Competitions
The rapid stage and finals for the Women's 25m Pistol event are scheduled for tomorrow. Additionally, the qualification and finals for the Men's 10m Air Rifle, along with the elimination round for the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions, will also take place.
