Indian Open 2026: A Major Development

The Indian Open 2026, organized by Global Sports, has officially become a PWR 1000 event sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA). This significant partnership marks a new chapter for pickleball in India.

Scheduled to take place from April 1 to 5 at Crosscourts in Hyderabad, the tournament is expected to attract over 1,500 participants competing for a prize pool of USD 50,000 across 56 categories.

Significance of the IPA and Global Sports Collaboration

This marks the fourth edition of the Indian Open hosted by Global Sports, with previous events having seen participation from around 4,000 pickleball players across 19 nations. The IPA's sanctioning brings much-needed legitimacy to the Indian pickleball framework.

The collaboration integrates the largest private tournament series in the country into the official governance structure, ensuring that all future events organized by Global Sports will operate under the IPA's authority.

Official Recognition of the Indian Pickleball Association

The Indian Pickleball Association is recognized as the sole governing body for pickleball in India, having received National Sports Federation status from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

"This partnership is a milestone for Indian sports. By incorporating Global Sports into the IPA framework, we are ensuring that every match played at the Indian Open aligns with a unified vision for the sport in our country. We are dedicated to providing athletes with a world-class platform governed by the highest standards of integrity and excellence," stated Suryaveersingh Bhullar, President of the IPA.
