IOA Increases Financial Support for Sports Organizations

The President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), PT Usha, announced a significant enhancement in funding during the IOA's Annual General Meeting held on Friday. The annual grants for national sports federations will see a rise from ₹7 lakh to ₹20 lakh. Additionally, state Olympic bodies will now receive ₹10 lakh, an increase from the previous ₹7 lakh.


"The AGM was a success. We are raising the annual funding for each national sports federation from ₹7 lakh to ₹20 lakh. State Olympic bodies will also benefit from an increased allocation of ₹10 lakh annually, up from ₹7 lakh. We are implementing numerous changes to transform Ahmedabad into a prominent sports hub," PT Usha stated while addressing the media after the meeting.


Commitment to Reform Highlighted at AGM

The meeting convened representatives from national sports federations, athlete representatives, and IOA officials to assess past efforts and outline future directions for the Olympic movement in India, as per an IOA announcement.


During her address, PT Usha remarked, "This AGM signifies our shared dedication to reform, transparency, and, most importantly, our athletes. We have made significant strides to modernize the IOA and prioritize athlete welfare in all our initiatives. Our mission is to cultivate a robust, ethical, and globally esteemed Olympic movement for India."


"While we honor the legacy of those who have shaped Indian sports, we also reaffirm our commitment to collaborate with federations, athletes, and administrators to ensure the continued growth of Indian sports with integrity, inclusivity, and excellence," she concluded.
