Rajnath Singh Highlights Navy's Role in Operation Sindoor

On Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that the Indian Navy successfully confined the entire Pakistani Navy to its ports during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the inauguration of the naval museum 'Nausena Shaurya Vatika', Singh noted the Navy's crucial role in maintaining pressure on Pakistan throughout the operation. He stated that the Navy was fully prepared and deployed in the Arabian Sea, consistently exerting pressure on the adversary. As a result, the Pakistani Navy remained restricted to its harbors.

Details of Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was initiated on May 7, 2025, as a response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, leading to precise strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The military conflict concluded on the evening of May 10 after an agreement was reached between both sides. Discussing the inauguration of the Nausena Shaurya Vatika, designed to showcase the Indian Navy's heritage, operational capabilities, and maritime achievements, Singh expressed pride and honor for the people of Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh.

A New Tourist Attraction

Singh mentioned that in the coming years, this facility will not only serve as a source of inspiration for Lucknow but will also evolve into a tourist destination, becoming one of the city's major attractions. Earlier, Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, inaugurated the Shaurya Vatika in the presence of Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi and Deputy Chief Ministers Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya.

A Tribute to Naval Valor

Developed jointly by the Indian Navy and the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, this museum is dedicated to the bravery, valor, and technical excellence of the Navy. Singh explained the rationale behind establishing a naval museum in a landlocked city like Lucknow, stating that maritime security is connected to every citizen. He highlighted that the Indian Ocean is integral to the nation's economy, trade, and energy needs, with contributions coming from every village, town, and city in India.

INS Gomati: A Symbol of Pride

Singh remarked that the Navy is a national asset, and its strength derives from the resolve and faith of every citizen, whether they live by the sea or in cities like Lucknow. He referenced the decommissioned warship INS Gomati, emphasizing its connection to Lucknow. Just as the Gomati River flows through the city and eventually merges with the Ganges and the sea, INS Gomati has brought pride to Lucknow while serving in the Indian Ocean. The ship's emblem also features an image of the historic Chhatra Manzil of Lucknow.
