Navy Day Celebrations in Kerala
On Wednesday, the Indian Navy will exhibit its maritime skills and combat capabilities off the coast of Kerala as part of the Navy Day celebrations. President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the event taking place at Shanghumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram.
A senior naval officer in Thiruvananthapuram revealed on Tuesday that the display will feature India's indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, a submarine, four fast intervention boats, and a total of 32 aircraft, including fighter jets, surveillance planes, and helicopters.
Officials stated that this grand event will provide a unique opportunity for the public to witness various aspects of the Indian Navy's multi-domain operations, enhance maritime awareness, and glimpse India's rich maritime heritage.
The event is part of the annual Navy Day celebrations, which are observed on December 4th. Earlier, during a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi mentioned that this year's Navy Day theme is "Combat-Ready, Cohesive, Self-Reliant Navy: Safeguarding National Maritime Interests Anytime, Anywhere." He also noted that this operational display at Shanghumugham Beach is being held for the first time as part of the Navy Day festivities.
