Donation to Support Armed Forces
In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and subsequent military responses, Devesh Chandra Thakur, a leader of the Janata Dal (United) and MP from Sitamarhi, announced on Friday his decision to donate his annual basic salary to the armed forces through the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). He shared this information with the media in his parliamentary constituency, Sitamarhi.
Thakur expressed that the armed forces are consistently engaged in safeguarding the nation. As a responsible citizen, he has chosen to contribute by donating his annual salary, which amounts to approximately ₹15 lakh.
Commitment to National Defense
He stated, "I have donated my basic salary to the personnel of the defense services, whether it be the Army, Navy, or Air Force, in recognition of their immense bravery. Our Indian armed forces stand firm with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in defending the country." Thakur emphasized his pride in representing the land of Goddess Sita and expressed gratitude for being elected to the Lok Sabha by the people of Sitamarhi. As he approaches the completion of his first year as a member of the Lok Sabha, he noted that his monthly salary is ₹1.25 lakh, leading to his decision to donate the entire amount to the PMNRF.
Recent Drone Attacks from Pakistan
On Friday night, India successfully thwarted fresh drone attacks from Pakistan targeting 26 locations across the northern and western regions of the country, including Srinagar Airport. The Indian government accused Islamabad of using its civilian aircraft as a 'shield' for aerial assaults, endangering their flights. This marked the third consecutive night of attacks on various cities, with targets ranging from Baramulla in northern Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat. The government reported that Islamabad launched 300 to 400 Turkish drones in an unsuccessful attempt to strike Indian military installations across 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek on Thursday night.
