Indian Military Conducts Airstrikes on Terrorist Camps in Pakistan

Indian Air Force Targets Terrorist Camps
On Wednesday, the Indian military executed airstrikes against terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as stated by the defense ministry, in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The Indian Air Force targeted nine locations as part of Operation Sindoor, according to the ministry's announcement.
In their statement, the ministry emphasized, “Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature.” They clarified that no military installations in Pakistan were struck, highlighting India's restraint in choosing targets and methods.
“We are committed to ensuring that those accountable for the attack will face justice,” the ministry added.
The Indian Army’s additional directorate general of public information remarked that “justice is served.”
Further updates were promised later in the day by the ministry.
Pakistan confirmed the occurrence of the airstrikes.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted that Pakistani forces possess “every right to respond forcefully” and indicated that a “forceful response is being given.”
The extent of casualties and damage from the airstrikes remains unclear, although the Pakistani military reported fatalities.
Shortly after the airstrikes, Pakistan allegedly breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control by shelling in the Bhimber Gali area of Poonch-Rajauri, prompting a calibrated response from the Indian Army.
The terror incident in the Baisaran region near Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam town on April 22 resulted in 26 deaths and 17 injuries. The attackers reportedly identified victims by asking for their names to determine their religion, with all but three of the deceased being Hindu.
In the aftermath of the attack, India and Pakistan exchanged diplomatic measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and bilateral trade, as well as expelling diplomats. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire for 12 consecutive days, leading to retaliatory actions from the Indian Army.
The airstrikes occurred just before India conducted civil defense drills across several states, which included testing air raid sirens and training civilians on protective measures in case of a hostile event.
When questioned about the airstrikes, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked that “people knew something was going to happen” due to the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
“I just hope it ends very quickly,” Trump expressed.
