Indian Men's Soft Tennis Team Suffers Defeat
The Indian Men's Soft Tennis Team fought valiantly but ultimately lost 0-3 to Chinese Taipei during their Preliminary Round match in Group C on Friday.
The competition commenced with a doubles match where the duo of Jay Meena and Yogesh Choudhary faced a tough challenge, falling 0-5 to the pair of Kai-Wen Yu and Wei-Chieh Lin. In the singles match, Aryan Thakur put up a strong effort but succumbed to Yu-Sang Chang with a score of 1-4, which secured a 2-0 lead for Chinese Taipei. Following this, Aniket Patel and Om Yadav participated in the second doubles match but were defeated 1-5 by Po-Yi Chen and Yu-Hsun Chen, sealing a 3-0 victory for Chinese Taipei.
The Indian team included Asian Games newcomers Aryan Thakur, Om Yadav, and Yogesh Choudhary, alongside Jay Meena, who is recognized as a TAGG athlete.
The Indian Men's Soft Tennis Team displayed commendable spirit against Chinese Taipei in their Preliminary Round – Group C, Match 2, but ultimately fell short with a score of 0-3.

Quimcy Dsouza Shines in Teqball Debut
In another highlight, Indian teqball newcomer Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza made a remarkable start at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, achieving two victories in the Women’s Singles event, which secured her a spot in the semifinals on Friday.
Quimcy showcased her resilience in her Group A, Match 2 against Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto, bouncing back from a 10-12 loss in the first game to win the subsequent two games 12-11 and 13-11, clinching a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
She continued her success with a decisive 2-0 win over Cambodia’s Koemyean DY in Group A, Match 3, winning the first game 12-9 and finishing the match 12-7, thus qualifying directly for the semifinals of the Women’s Singles event.
With her singles journey progressing well, Quimcy is now set to focus on the Mixed Doubles event, where she will team up with fellow Indian Mohamed Anas Imran Beg. The duo is scheduled to compete against the Philippines’ Jhoana Abulencia and Prince Agustin.
