Indian Government Establishes Control Room for Citizens in West Asia Amid Rising Tensions
Control Room Set Up for Indian Citizens in West Asia
The Ministry of External Affairs has launched a control room to assist Indian nationals affected by the escalating crisis in West Asia. According to the ministry, nearly ten million Indians reside in this region, and ensuring their safety and well-being is of utmost importance to New Delhi.
In light of the Iran-U.S. conflict, the Indian embassy in Iran has successfully relocated hundreds of Indian students from Tehran to safer locations.
On Wednesday, the ministry announced, "Given the current situation in West Asia and the Gulf region, a control room has been established at the Ministry of External Affairs. It will be operational from 9 AM to 9 PM for inquiries." The U.S. initiated military strikes against Iran on February 28, resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Following this, Iran retaliated by attacking U.S. military bases in several Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
The ministry emphasized that the safety and welfare of the approximately ten million Indian citizens in the Gulf region is a top priority. "We cannot remain indifferent to any developments that may adversely affect them," it stated. The ministry also assured that New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and will make necessary decisions in the national interest. Furthermore, it mentioned that it is in contact with regional governments and other key international partners.
