Indian Golfers Shine at Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open

Ceerat Kang and Guntas Kaur Sandhu, representing India in the prestigious Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open, maintained their competitive edge by staying within the top ten after the second round held on Tuesday.

Currently, India ranks third in the team championship with a total score of four-over 292, just four strokes behind the leading team from Malaysia.

Player Standings

Ceerat, hailing from Panchkula, delivered an impressive one-under 71, bringing her overall score to one-over 145, which places her in sixth position after Day 2 at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club. Meanwhile, Guntas from Chandigarh scored two-over 74, landing her in a tie for seventh.

Leading the tournament is Malaysia's Amberly Zaira Binti Zamra, who dazzled with a five-under 67, achieving an overall score of two-under 142.

Round 2 Highlights

In her second round, 19-year-old Ceerat started strong, making three birdies on her front nine. However, she faced challenges with bogeys on the 16th and 18th holes.

Conversely, 15-year-old Guntas experienced a mixed round, recording three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, followed by one birdie and two bogeys on the back nine, finishing with a score of two-over 74.

Tournament Overview

This year marks the 40th edition of the tournament, hosted at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, which features a course rating of 72.1 and a slope rating of 122. The event includes around 40 amateur golfers from 20 different countries competing over three rounds.

Individual champions will be determined after 54 holes, while the team champion will be decided after 36 holes based on the combined scores of the two players.

Guntas has already made her mark with 13 top-10 finishes, including four victories in 20 starts on the IGU amateur circuit during the 2025-26 season, winning titles in the IGU Eastern India Ladies, IGU Southern India Ladies, IGU Maharashtra Ladies, and IGU West Bengal Ladies.
