Tributes Paid to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei


Tehran: On Friday, a prominent Indian delegation visited Tehran to pay their respects to the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli military actions in February.


The delegation included Bihar Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, who honored the Iranian leader during the funeral.


Hasnain shared on social media that they represented India at the ceremony and expressed condolences to the families affected by the recent conflict.


Margherita also confirmed their attendance at the funeral, conveying the sentiments of the Indian government and its citizens.


In addition, various Indian political figures, including Congress leader Salman Khurshid and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, along with religious leaders from Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities, paid their respects to Khamenei.


Mufti expressed her honor in being present in Tehran to extend condolences, describing Khamenei as a respected leader who stood up for the oppressed.


Public funeral services are scheduled to take place in Tehran and Qom on July 5, 6, and 7, with the burial set for July 9 in Khamenei's hometown of Mashhad.
