Condolences from India
On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi to express his condolences following the death of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
Sharing a photo on social media platform 'X' upon his arrival at the High Commission, Singh stated, “I visited the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. I signed the condolence book expressing deep sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Our heartfelt sympathies are with her family and the people of Bangladesh.”
Khaleda Zia, who served as the long-time president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), passed away on Tuesday in Dhaka after a prolonged illness at the age of 80. She was the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the second woman to hold the position in the Muslim world, following Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto, and she maintained a significant influence in the country's politics for decades.
