Indian Citizen Dies Amid Ongoing Conflict in West Asia

Tragic Incident in Abu Dhabi

An Indian national lost his life in Abu Dhabi on Thursday due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, as reported by the media office of the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, a Pakistani citizen was also killed when debris from a ballistic missile, launched from Iran and intercepted by UAE air defense, fell on Sweihan Street in the city, according to a social media update from the media office.

Three individuals sustained injuries in this incident, including nationals from India, the UAE, and Jordan.

This marks the seventh Indian casualty in the ongoing conflict.

Previously, on March 20, another Indian citizen died in Saudi Arabia, marking a troubling trend.

On March 14, the Indian government reported that five Indians had been killed and one was unaccounted for, as per reports from a news agency.

The Indian diplomatic missions in Oman, Iraq, and the UAE are actively coordinating with local authorities regarding the missing individual and the repatriation of the deceased, as stated by Additional Secretary (Gulf) Aseem Mahajan.

Earlier, on March 2, the Directorate General of Shipping announced that three Indian seafarers were killed and one injured amid the conflict, although specific details surrounding their deaths were not disclosed.

On March 13, two Indians were killed in a drone strike in Oman’s Sohar province.

The conflict in West Asia escalated on February 28 when the United States and Israel initiated an attack on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile and drone strikes targeting various locations in the Gulf, including US military bases and major urban centers.

Israel has expressed concerns that Iran is nearing the capability to develop a nuclear weapon, which could significantly disrupt the regional security landscape. Iran, however, insists that its nuclear ambitions are solely for peaceful purposes.
