Indian Boxers Make Significant Strides in World Rankings

On Thursday, the latest World Boxing Rankings showcased impressive advancements by Indian boxers, including Minakshi Hooda, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Vishvanath Suresh, and Sachin Siwach.


Minakshi and Jaismine Secure Top Rankings

Minakshi Hooda and Jaismine Lamboria have both achieved the prestigious No. 1 ranking in their respective weight classes, as reported by Olympics.com. Minakshi maintained her position in the women's 48kg category after clinching gold at the Asian Boxing Championships in March. Meanwhile, Jaismine ascended to the top in the women's 57kg category, following her silver medal at the Asian Championships in Mongolia, surpassing Julia Szeremeta. These rankings reflect performances from significant international competitions held between July 2024 and May 2026, including World Boxing Cup events, and will influence seedings for major tournaments like the 2026 Asian Games and the upcoming Commonwealth Games.


Impressive Results from Indian Women Boxers

In women's boxing, Preeti Pawar has risen to No. 3 in the 54kg category, while Priya Ghanghas matched this ranking in the 60kg division. Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Pooja Rani (80kg), and Nupur (+80kg) all secured second place in their respective weight classes. Notably, Indian women boxers are represented in the top 10 across nine out of ten categories, while their male counterparts are present in eight of the ten divisions.


Additionally, former world champion Nikhat Zareen holds the fourth position in the women's 51kg division, and Lovlina Borgohain is ranked seventh in the 75kg category.


Men's Rankings Show Strong Indian Representation

In the men's rankings, Vishvanath Suresh has moved up to No. 3 in the 50kg division, while Sachin Siwach has entered the top five in the 60kg category. Abhinash Jamwal is ranked eighth in the 65kg division, Hitesh Gulia is sixth in the 70kg category, Akash is eighth in the 75kg, and Lokesh is also eighth in the 85kg division.


Other notable rankings include Jadumani Mandengbam, who is seventh in the 50kg category, and Harsh Choudhary, who is placed tenth in the 90kg division.
