Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya extended his congratulations to Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi and rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan for their impressive performances at the ongoing Asian Games.

Roshibina Devi's Silver Medal Achievement

Roshibina Devi claimed her second consecutive silver medal in the women's sanda 60 kg final, where she faced off against China's Zhang Xiaoyu in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday. Earlier that day, the duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final.

On social media platform X, Mandaviya expressed his pride in Roshibina's achievement, stating, "Heartiest congratulations to Naorem Roshibina Devi on winning the Silver Medal in Women’s Sanda 60kg at the #AsianGames2026. #Cheer4Bharat". Roshibina's Remarkable Journey

Roshibina, who previously won a silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, faced tough competition, losing both rounds with a score of 0-5. The Chinese competitor secured the match 2-0, as reported by ESPN. With this achievement, Roshibina becomes the first Indian woman to earn three consecutive medals in Wushu at the Asian Games, having also won a bronze in 2018.

Her journey in Japan was notable, including a victory over the 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam. In the semi-finals, she triumphed over Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas with a score of 2-0, earning her spot in the finals.

India's Medal Tally at the Games

India has now secured its 14th medal at the Asian Games, which includes one gold and six silvers, along with seven bronze medals.

Rowers' Performance Overview

In rowing, the pair of Satnam and Salman clocked a time of 6:13.25, finishing just 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists Yi Xudi and Nie Yide from China, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin. They maintained a strong position at 500m, 1000m, and 1500m but lost momentum towards the end, trailing by half a second at one point.

In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar finished fourth after initially holding second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks. However, he was overtaken by Shakhboz Kholmurzaev from Uzbekistan and Tatsuya Sakurama from Japan in the final stretch, ultimately finishing with a time of 6:54.80, which was 15 seconds behind gold medalist Zhiwei Deng from China.
