Indian Army Thwarts Pakistani Attacks on Golden Temple: A Display of Air Defense Strength
Defense Against Threats to the Golden Temple
Amritsar: On Monday, the Indian Army showcased its air defense capabilities, demonstrating how systems like the Akash missile successfully protected the Golden Temple, a sacred site for Sikhs, and various cities in Punjab from missile and drone threats during Operation Sindoor.
The Army presented debris from the intercepted Pakistani missiles and drones. Major General Kartik C Seshadri, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 15th Infantry Division, revealed that Pakistan attempted to strike the Golden Temple in Amritsar using drones and missiles on the night of May 7-8, as a response to India's operations against nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
He emphasized that Pakistan lacked legitimate military targets and aimed to attack civilian and religious sites in India. “We were fully prepared for this scenario, and our vigilant air defense personnel successfully neutralized all threats directed at the Golden Temple,” the General stated.
Amit Malviya, from the BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, expressed his shock on X, stating, “The Indian Army’s acknowledgment of drone and missile threats aimed at the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) is alarming and deeply concerning.” He highlighted the malicious intent of Pakistan’s military and its affiliates to create chaos and undermine India's essence.
Malviya further remarked, “No true Sikh, whose beliefs are founded on justice, sacrifice, and love for the nation, would ever support a state like Pakistan, which has repeatedly proven to be a foe of peace, faith, and humanity. Targeting the holiest Sikh shrine reveals the moral and strategic failure of Pakistan’s actions.”
He concluded by urging Sikhs worldwide to recognize this as an assault not only on a religious site but also on the unity of India and the sanctity of Sikh heritage.
