Indian Army Conducts Advanced Military Drill Near Myanmar Border
Advanced Military Exercise Near Myanmar
Guwahati, July 26: The Indian Army has executed a sophisticated military exercise in areas close to the Myanmar border, shortly after a series of drone strikes targeted ULFA(I) camps across the border.
The operation, named ‘Exercise Drone Prahaar’, was overseen by Lieutenant General Abhijeet S Pendharkar, the General Officer Commanding of the Dimapur-based Spear Corps (III Corps). This drill aimed to assess the incorporation of drone technology into the tactical operations of infantry and supporting units.
According to a defence spokesperson, the exercise was conducted under realistic operational scenarios, demonstrating the effective use of drones for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), as well as real-time sensor-to-shooter connections and precise targeting across various tactical and operational levels. A key goal was to improve command reach and situational awareness for tactical leaders through enhanced surveillance and support for agile decision-making.
The drill also evaluated essential components for integrating drones into the battlefield, including airspace management, secure communication, and coordination protocols among different arms and services.
Officials indicated that this exercise would enhance readiness and adaptability for upcoming challenges. While the specific location of the drill was not disclosed, it was confirmed to be in the forward areas of the Dimapur-based Indian Army formation.
Earlier this month, multiple drone strikes nearly obliterated two ULFA(I) bases, resulting in the deaths of several members of the group.
The Indian Army has officially stated that it was not involved in these strikes.
