Indian Armed Forces Conduct Successful Operation Against Terrorists in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Operation Sindoor: A Major Success
On Sunday, senior officials from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force held a press conference to discuss Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The military reported that over 100 terrorists were killed during this operation, including key figures involved in the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight IC-814 in 1999 and the Pulwama attack on security personnel in 2019. Additionally, the armed forces destroyed nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Details of the Operation
Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), stated during the briefing that Indian intelligence agencies had identified nine active terrorist camps, some situated in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and others in Pakistan's Punjab province. The strikes on these camps resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists, including high-value targets like Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudassir Ahmed, who were linked to the IC-814 hijacking and the Pulwama bombing.
Objective of Operation Sindoor
The primary goal of Operation Sindoor was to punish terrorists and dismantle their operational frameworks. The senior military official emphasized India's unwavering stance against terrorism and its commitment to countering such threats.
Pakistan's Attempts to Target Indian Military Sites
Air Marshal A.K. Bharti addressed Pakistan's actions during the conflict, revealing that on the night of May 9-10, Pakistan deployed drones and aircraft in an attempt to strike several Indian military installations. However, these efforts largely failed. He noted that Pakistan resumed ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), leading to intense artillery exchanges.
Successful Defense Against Drone Attacks
Air Marshal Bharti reported that on the nights of May 8 and 9, India faced a significant drone attack from around 10:30 PM, stretching from Srinagar to Naliya. He assured that Indian air defense systems were prepared, ensuring no damage occurred to ground targets. In retaliation, Indian forces conducted 'measured and calibrated' strikes on military sites, including surveillance radar locations in Lahore and Gujranwala.
He further mentioned that the drone attacks continued until morning but were effectively countered. Bharti criticized Pakistan for allowing civilian and international flights to operate from Lahore while drone launches occurred nearby, labeling this as highly irresponsible and stressing the need for India to exercise extreme caution.
