Archery Teams Shine at Asian Games

On Sunday, both the men's and women's compound archery teams from India advanced to the semifinals at the Asian Games taking place in Aichi-Nagoya. The men's team, consisting of Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam, and Kushal Dalal, narrowly defeated Bhutan with a score of 235-232, securing a semifinal match against South Korea, who triumphed over Iran.

The women's squad, featuring Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Prithika Pradeep, overcame Kazakhstan with a score of 233-230, also setting up a semifinal clash against South Korea. Despite trailing after the initial set of six arrows, the women's team mounted a strong comeback to win by a mere three points.

In earlier rounds, the men's team faced the UAE, winning decisively with a score of 235-215, while the women's team performed even better against Mongolia, achieving a score of 238-223.

Indian Surfers Progress in Competition

In surfing news, both Sugar Shanti Gayen and Kamali Prakash from India advanced to the third round of the women's shortboard event.

Sugar Shanti secured her spot by defeating Chen Wan-yu from Chinese Taipei with a score of 7.33, which included 3.83 points from her first wave and 3.50 from her second.

Kamali Prakash also progressed by beating Singapore's Camille Marie Spaccarotella, scoring 7.57, with her first wave earning 4.17 points and her second wave contributing 3.40 points. Her opponent scored 4.50. The quarterfinals are scheduled for tomorrow.
