The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has successfully hosted the second edition of the Indian Ambassador's Cricket Tournament at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Stadium. Held from June 26 to 28, the tournament featured eight teams, including representatives from the Indian Embassy, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic community, Nepali media, former cricketers, government officials, corporate entities, and the Indian diaspora in Nepal (ICAN). The opening ceremony took place on June 26, attended by Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, and Gahendra Rajbhandari, Joint Secretary of Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with other senior diplomats.
Thrilling Conclusion and Awards Ceremony
The tournament wrapped up with an exhilarating final match on June 28, featuring the Embassy of India against ICAN. Following the match, Ambassador Naveen Srivastava and representatives from the organizing partners awarded trophies and accolades to the winning team and standout players, as per the Embassy's press release.
Celebration of Achievements and Future Prospects
On June 29, a reception was held to commemorate the tournament's success, attended by the Indian Ambassador and other dignitaries. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and other partners for their contributions to the event.
Additionally, the Ambassador presented professional cricket kits to three talented Nepali women cricketers under 19—Sana Praveen, Krishma Gurung, and Sabitri Dhami—wishing them success in the upcoming ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup scheduled for next year.
