Nagma Mallick, the Indian Ambassador to Japan, hosted Team India at her residence prior to their departure for the Asian Games in Nagoya. The Indian Embassy in Japan shared this moment on social media, highlighting the Ambassador's appreciation for the team's role in initiating events celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
In her remarks, Ambassador Mallick expressed her gratitude for the team's significant contributions to these commemorative events. The Embassy also shared images from this gathering, showcasing the interaction between the Ambassador and the players.
Wishing Success for the Asian Games
The Embassy extended its best wishes to Team India as they prepare for the Asian Games, stating, "We sincerely wish Team India the best of luck as they head to Nagoya for the Asian Games." The Ambassador also thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team for their exceptional efforts in launching the anniversary celebrations.
Preparations and Previous Achievements
In preparation for their Asian Games cricket campaign, the Indian men's team engaged in an indoor net session. The BCCI shared a video featuring players like Sanju Samson training hard, with head coach VVS Laxman overseeing the practice.
The Indian women's cricket team successfully defended their title, defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur.
During their last appearance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, India's emerging T20 World Cup stars secured a gold medal by defeating Afghanistan, as they were declared the winners based on their higher seeding after the final was interrupted by rain.
