Indian Air Defense Foils Rocket Attack from Pakistan in Una District

Rocket Attack Thwarted in Himachal Pradesh
In the early hours of Saturday, Indian air defense successfully intercepted a rocket that originated from Pakistan, preventing a potential disaster. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM when a part of the rocket crash-landed near Behd Bhated village in Una district, located about 10 kilometers from the famous Chintpurni temple, a significant Shaktipeeth in Himachal Pradesh.
The explosion startled local residents, causing many to flee their homes in fear. Reports indicated that the blast was powerful enough to shake houses in the vicinity. A small fire ignited in a nearby forest but was quickly extinguished, likely aided by the rain.
Discovery of Shell-Like Object
On Saturday morning, villagers found a shell-like object weighing between 50 to 60 kilograms in the fields. Authorities were alerted, and police along with local officials promptly secured the area.
Forensic and defense specialists were called in to investigate the remnants. Eyewitnesses noted that dogs had been barking after observing strange lights in the sky prior to the explosion.
The explosion was so intense that it caused debris to scatter into a nearby forest area, igniting a brief fire. The homeowner quickly notified the village head, who then contacted the police.
The homeowner described the shockwave from the explosion as so strong that it caused his house to vibrate. He later recounted the incident to local MLA Sudarshan Babloo and other officials who came to assess the situation.
Proximity to Punjab Border Raises Concerns
Behd Bhated village, with a population exceeding 300, is situated near the Punjab border. Video footage captured locals inspecting the projectile remnants, raising alarms about the risks associated with unexploded ordnance.
Authorities had already heightened security alerts in the area due to possible cross-border threats. A blackout was reported across Una district during the night, although some solar-powered lights remained operational. The MLA has directed the SDM to maintain complete darkness in sensitive regions moving forward. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities, but the incident has prompted increased vigilance and ongoing investigations.
