Celebrating a Historic Achievement

Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, congratulated Anekha Devi, a member of the Indian women's team that triumphed in the inaugural Women's T20 Blind World Cup. Abdullah praised Anekha's perseverance, emphasizing that her success is a source of pride for both Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation. Anekha hails from Bani in Kathua.

During the 128th episode of his radio program, Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his admiration for the Indian women's team for their remarkable victory in the Women's Blind T20 World Cup. He highlighted that the team achieved this prestigious title without a single loss, stating, "Our women's team won the Blind Cricket World Cup. It's a great achievement that the Indian team won this tournament without losing a single match. Our countrymen are very proud of every player on this team."


India's Victory Over Nepal

The Indian women's blind cricket team made history by winning the Women's T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in Colombo. After choosing to field first, the Indian bowlers showcased an impressive performance, restricting Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs.


Chasing Down the Target

In their chase, the Indian batters quickly surpassed the 100-run mark within the first 10 overs, eliminating any threat from Nepal. Opener Phula Saren played a crucial role, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls, including four boundaries, leading India to victory in the 13th over. Additionally, opener Karuna K contributed significantly with a rapid 42 runs off 27 balls. Saren's outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Match title.


Captain Deepika TC Reflects on the Win

Following their historic win, captain Deepika TC expressed immense pride in the team's achievement. She remarked, "We are very proud, and it is a huge win. Our entire team worked very hard. It is a very strong team and other teams are afraid of playing with us. We are even ready to play with the men's team."


An Unbeaten Journey to the Title

Throughout the T20 World Cup for the Blind, India exhibited exceptional skill, remaining undefeated to secure the championship. The campaign began with a victory over Sri Lanka, followed by a 57-run win against Australia, where the Aussies failed to chase a target of 293 runs. India also triumphed over arch-rivals Pakistan, successfully chasing down a target of 136 runs in just 10.2 overs. In the semi-finals, India dominated Australia by nine wickets, culminating in a decisive win against Nepal to claim the trophy.
