India's Dominant Victory

In a commanding display, the India Women’s cricket team secured a significant 94-run win against Thailand Women during their Women's Asia Cup 2026 match held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. After setting a target of 159 runs for 9 wickets, the Indian bowlers showcased exceptional discipline, bowling Thailand out for just 65 runs in 16.1 overs.

Bowling Attack Shines

The Indian bowlers maintained consistent pressure, preventing Thailand from gaining any momentum in their chase. Following a quickfire 64 runs from Shafali Verma, Thailand's innings began poorly with Kranti Gaud dismissing Natthakan Chantham for just four runs. Nandni Sharma followed suit, taking out Phannita Maya for six runs, leaving Thailand struggling at 16 for 2 during the powerplay.

Shree Charani contributed significantly with impressive bowling figures of 2 wickets for 10 runs in three overs, effectively utilizing the pitch conditions. She took down Aphisara Suwanchonrathi (1) and Chanida Sutthiruang (5), leaving Thailand at 43 for 4 in 7.4 overs.

Deepti Sharma further compounded Thailand's woes by claiming the wickets of Naomi Hamilton (1) and Nannaphat Chaihan (0) in the ninth over, reducing them to 44 for 6 in 8.3 overs.

Although Suleeporn Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai managed a brief partnership of 16 runs, the innings quickly fell apart. Nandni Sharma and Deepti Sharma wrapped up the tail, with Thailand losing their last three wickets without adding to their score. Koncharoenkai was the standout performer for Thailand, scoring 41 runs off 48 balls, including six boundaries.

Shafali Verma's Explosive Performance

Earlier in the match, despite a stellar half-century from Shafali Verma, Thailand's bowlers, particularly Suleeporn Laomi and Sunida Chaturongrattana, delivered a commendable performance that restricted India to 159 runs for 9 wickets. India was cruising at 108 for 2 but suffered a collapse, losing five wickets for just 28 runs.

Thailand won the toss and opted to field first. Pratika Rawal made her T20I debut, while Deepti Sharma marked her 150th T20I appearance, becoming the third Indian woman to achieve this milestone after Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.

Smriti Mandhana began strongly, hitting three boundaries in the first over against Phannita Maya. Shafali followed suit, scoring two fours against Thipatcha Putthawong. However, Mandhana was run out after scoring 19 runs off 10 balls, leaving India at 38 for 1.

Shafali continued her aggressive batting, and Pratika hit her first six in T20Is, propelling India to 50 runs in just 4.1 overs. By the end of the powerplay, India stood at 65 for 1, with Shafali on 33 and Pratika on 13.

Shafali reached her 19th T20I fifty in just 26 balls, but shortly after, Pratika was dismissed for 22 runs, leaving India at 91 for 2. The innings took a downturn as Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali fell in quick succession, reducing India to 112 for 5.

Despite efforts from Bharti Fulmali and Deepti Sharma, India struggled to recover, ultimately finishing at 159 for 9. Laomi was the standout bowler for Thailand with figures of 3 for 26.
