India vs England Test Series: Key Players Likely to Miss Upcoming Match
Exciting Finale Awaits in India vs England Test Series
The thrilling five-match Test series between India and England is approaching its climax. Currently, England holds a 2-1 lead, and a single victory in the remaining two matches will secure them the series trophy.
Conversely, India must win both of their remaining matches to achieve their long-awaited Test series victory on English soil. Following a historic win in the second Test, the team, led by Shubman Gill, faced a disappointing defeat in the third Test at Lord's.
In a remarkable bowling performance, the Indian bowlers restricted England to just 192 runs in their second innings. Chasing a target of 193, India fell short, getting bowled out for 170 runs, with many batsmen failing to contribute significantly. Ravindra Jadeja fought valiantly but could not lead the team to victory, resulting in a 22-run loss.
Injury Concerns Ahead of the Fourth Test
The upcoming fourth Test in Manchester is expected to be an exciting match, but India may be without three key players due to injuries. Star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and bowler Akash Deep are both doubtful for this crucial game.
Pant sustained an injury to his index finger while keeping wickets during the third Test. He was struck on his left hand while attempting to collect a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah during England's first innings. The injury caused him immediate pain, requiring treatment from the medical staff.
He was subsequently replaced by Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of the match. Losing Pant would be a significant setback for India, as he has been one of the standout performers in the series, currently ranking as the second-highest run-scorer with 425 runs across six innings.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep had to leave the field on the fourth day of the Test after receiving treatment for an injury to his side or hip. Commentator Michael Atherton noted, "Akash Deep, who was with the physio on the boundary, holding his side or hip, groin as well. Walking gingerly up there on the stairs."
For England, bowler Shoaib Bashir has been ruled out for the remainder of the series due to a finger injury sustained while attempting to catch a shot from Ravindra Jadeja on day three.
