India Urges Nationals to Leave Iran Amid Escalating Tensions
Urgent Advisory for Indian Nationals in Iran
Dubai: On Monday, the Indian government reiterated its warning to citizens in Iran, advising them to refrain from traveling to the country and to leave the area using any available transportation options.
This advisory has been issued in light of the recent developments in the region.
The Indian Embassy in Iran emphasized its previous guidance, urging all Indian nationals to avoid any travel to Iran.
The advisory posted on X stated, "In light of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran."
Furthermore, it advised Indian nationals currently in Iran to exit the country as soon as possible.
On the same day, Israel conducted airstrikes targeting central and western Iran in retaliation for missile attacks originating from Tehran.
Earlier, on April 7, India had issued a warning for its nationals in Iran to remain where they are for the next 48 hours.
This advisory followed a stark warning from US President Donald Trump, who stated that a "whole civilization will die tonight" if Iran did not comply with his deadline to cease its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Official reports indicate that approximately 9,000 Indians, including students, were present in Iran when the conflict escalated due to strikes on Iranian targets by Israel and the US on February 28. So far, nearly 1,800 Indians have returned to India.
