India Unveils Its First Private Full-Flow Staged Combustion Rocket Engine
Introduction of a Revolutionary Rocket Engine
New Delhi, August 7 - Bengaluru-based space technology startup 'Astrobase Space Technologies' has introduced India's first privately developed Full-Flow Staged Combustion (FFSC) rocket engine on Friday. This FFSC rocket engine is recognized as one of the most advanced in the world, showcasing exceptional performance by utilizing all propellants effectively.
Named 'Everest', this engine operates on liquid oxygen and methane, generating a thrust of 800 kilonewtons. It has been specifically designed for a reusable medium-lift launch vehicle. However, the engine is yet to undergo testing, and the schedule for these tests has not been finalized. Neeraj Khandelwal, the co-founder of the company, stated in a press release that 'Everest' lays the groundwork for an industrial capability that India will increasingly require in the coming years.
