India Unveils 15-Member Squad for T20 World Cup 2026

Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), revealed the 15-member team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled for February. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday, December 20, with the presence of chief selector Agarkar and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Strategic Planning Ahead of the Tournament
The selection committee opted to finalize the squad a month ahead of the January 8 deadline for submitting the preliminary list to the International Cricket Council (ICC). This decision allows ample time for the team to engage in practice camps and strategize for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Key Changes in the Squad
A notable change in the squad is the exclusion of Shubman Gill, while Sanju Samson has retained his position. Additionally, Ishan Kishan makes a return as the second wicketkeeper-batter for this prestigious event.
