India's Stance on the US-Russia Summit
New Delhi: On Saturday, India expressed its support for the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled to take place in Alaska next week, aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) voiced its approval, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's long-held belief that 'this is not an era of war.'
India's endorsement followed the announcement from the US and Russia regarding the meeting, set for next Friday, to discuss the Ukraine situation.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, 'India welcomes the agreement between the United States and the Russian Federation to convene in Alaska on August 15.'
'This summit has the potential to conclude the current conflict in Ukraine and pave the way for peace. As Prime Minister Modi has emphasized multiple times, 'This is not an era of war,' he added.
'Thus, India fully supports the forthcoming summit and is prepared to assist in these diplomatic efforts,' Jaiswal concluded.
